Christmas School Holiday Activities

Published: 13/12/2021 By Jessica Chalmers

Yay!! School's out for Christmas! I don't know about other parents, but this term always feels two weeks too long!

We've collated some fun things to do in and around Chiswick during the school holidays:

'Do you Want to Build a Snowman?'
Saturday 18th: 10:30am & 11:30am
Chiswick House will be running a festive workshop where children 5+ can make their very own sock snowman and decorate a Christmas card with a picture of their creation taking centre stage!

Myths & Adventures from Ancient Greece
If you can't face another Christmas movie and you don't want to rug up and go out - this could be the solution: Watermans is bringing Ancient Greece to life on their YouTube channel.  Children will enter a miniature world full of exciting 10-minute adventures in this new series, with the insect Hope as their guide. Hope journeys into the world of Ancient Greece to escape Pandora's Box, warn King Midas of his greed, seek Persephone in the Underworld and help Theseus defeat the Minotaur.

Wetland Centre
22nd October - 9th January
Suppose you missed out on Kew Christmas Lights (again) - me! We have got the perfect light display for you - and as I type this, there are still tickets left (I just got some!) The Wetland Centre has a fabulous Illuminature display. Explore the after-dark trail through the habitats of owls, geese and otters. Walk past reed beds and lagoons and see larger than life illuminations of iconic wetland.

The Snow Queen
Chiswick House
Saturday 18th - 1:30pm & 2:30pm
Join Vanessa Woolf for an exciting and magical storytelling session at Chiswick House. Ideal for children aged 5-11.

Father Christmas Comes to Chiswick
18th-23rd December
Chiswick Playhouse
This Christmas, Chiswick Playhouse is getting their chimney ready for an exceptional guest -  Santa Claus is coming! Bring your little one along to hear Santa's favourite story and meet the man himself. Tickets include a free present for each child and a glass of mulled wine for the parent! Snap your ticket up. They are going swiftly!
